How to measure your feetFit notes
Fit and comfort
Fits true to size. Choose your usual EU shoe size and adjust the lacing across the instep. There should be room for the toes to move without pinching at the sides.
Everyday wear
Try the pair indoors on a clean surface with the socks you intend to wear. Walk a few steps and check the heel, toe room and pressure across the instep before wearing outside.
Between sizes or unsure about width? Share the length of both feet, your usual EU size and the socks you plan to wear with our concierge.
How to measure your feet
- Stand on paper with your heel gently against a wall.
- Mark your longest toe. Measure A from the wall to this mark.
- Measure both feet, standing. Keep the longer measurement.
Measure both feet while standing, from the heel to the longest toe, and keep the longer length. Share the result in centimeters or inches, your usual EU and US sizes, and any width concerns with our concierge.

Delivery
Orders ship from the United States. Standard U.S. transit is 3–10 business days after dispatch; express transit is 1–3 business days. Available services and charges are confirmed at checkout. See processing details below.

All orders ship from the United States.
Orders placed before 12:00 PM EST will ship the same business day.
Orders placed after 12:00 PM EST will ship the following business day.
Orders placed after 5:00 PM EST on Friday or during the weekend will be processed and shipped the following Monday.
Please note that holidays are not considered business days.

We ship worldwide and aim for delivery within up to 14 business days, depending on destination.
All international shipments must clear customs. Customs regulations vary by country, and customers are responsible for:

We are not responsible for customs delays or additional charges imposed by local authorities.

Shipping charges are non-refundable in the event of carrier delays.
For time-sensitive orders, we recommend selecting express shipping at checkout and placing your order in advance.

Customers are responsible for return shipping costs. Original shipping charges are non-refundable. We will provide a return shipping label.
If a refund is issued, return shipping costs may be deducted where applicable.

Contact our concierge before returning your pair. Items returned more than 14 days after delivery, used or damaged items, and final-sale items are not eligible for a refund. Return shipping is the customer’s responsibility; review the full conditions below.

INSPECTION AND APPROVAL
Inspection and Approval
Once your return is received and inspected, we will send you an email confirming that we have received your returned item.
We will also notify you of the approval or rejection of your refund.
REFUND METHOD AND TIMING

If your refund is approved, you may choose to receive your refund either as store credit or back to the original payment method.
Refund Processing Time
Please note that refunds can take up to 10 working days to appear on your account due to varying processing times between payment providers.
TAXES, DUTIES, AND INTERNATIONAL ORDERS
United States and Canada
If your order was sent to a destination within the United States or Canada, all sales taxes will be refunded.
Orders Outside the United States and Canada
Customs duties and sales taxes are non-refundable through The Proper Label. However, you may be able to recover these amounts by contacting your local customs bureau or by hiring a customs broker.
Australia
If your order was sent to Australia, you will receive a refund of duties and Goods and Services Tax (GST).
ITEMS NOT ELIGIBLE FOR A REFUND
Items Not Eligible for a Refund
There are certain situations where we do not accept refunds:
- Goods with obvious signs of use;
- Any item that is not in its original condition, is damaged, or is missing parts for reasons not due to our error;
- Any item returned more than 14 days after delivery; and

Care & longevity
After wearing your Derby, loosen the laces and remove surface dust with a soft brush or a clean, dry cloth. Use a barely damp cloth for a light mark, without soaking the soft calf leather.
When needed, apply a small amount of care product made for smooth calf leather. Test on a discreet area first, follow its instructions, and polish gently with a soft cloth.
Let the pair rest between wears. If damp, dry at room temperature away from direct heat; use well-fitting shoe trees to support the lace-up shape and store only when fully dry.
Avoid prolonged contact with water. Check the leather soles and heels regularly, and consult a trusted cobbler or our concierge about wear before it reaches the upper.
