Sustainability
Our approach to sustainability
A longer view.
At The Proper Label®, Maison de Sport, sustainability is part of the way we approach creation. We work within our atelier and with partner companies to bring environmental considerations into the discussion around design, materials and the life of a piece.
Our ambition is to make this approach more considered at every stage: from the first creative decisions to the information and care that accompany a piece through its life.
In the atelier.
Within our atelier, silhouette, material and construction are considered together. This is where a design takes shape and where we can question what is necessary. Our aim is to develop pieces with a clear purpose, paying attention to how they will be worn and to the decisions that influence their useful life.
With our partners.
We partner with companies engaged in sustainability, bringing their expertise into dialogue with the Maison. Collaboration is a way to examine our choices, learn from different disciplines and identify where our practices can evolve. We see this work as a continuing relationship, built on exchange and shared attention to progress.
GOTS-certified cotton.
For selected pieces, we work with GOTS-certified organic cotton materials. The Global Organic Textile Standard addresses organic fibres and environmental and social requirements in textile processing. For the certification details of a particular material or piece, our team can provide guidance.
OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100.
Where specified, we select textiles certified to OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100, a standard for articles tested for harmful substances. The relevant certificate applies to the named textile or article, with a scope that can differ from one piece to another.
Traceability.
Traceability helps us understand the path from material to finished piece. We work with our partners on the information behind composition, provenance and processing. Our aim is to make these details clearer, so that both creative and purchasing decisions can be better informed.
Responsible leather sourcing.
Our approach to leather sourcing considers provenance alongside quality, finish and intended use. We work with our partners towards responsible sourcing and seek greater visibility into the materials and processes behind each piece. Leather-specific information can be requested through Client Support.
Care & continuity
Beyond the first wear.
The life of a piece continues after it leaves the Maison. We encourage thoughtful care and repeated wear, with attention to the requirements of each fabric, leather and construction.
Follow the care instructions supplied with your piece. Before cleaning or repair, seek advice suited to its material. Our Client Support team is available for care enquiries and questions about the pieces you own.
